Story

Kinya (she/her/elle) is an educator, lifelong learner, wife, toddler mom, and baking enthusiast with a passion for world travel, boating, and reading. With over 17 years of experience as a registered social worker and educator in governance, equity, and community development, Kinya brings her expertise to the role of Board Director for DEIB at Mothers to Daughters (M2D). Her guiding values—empathy, community, and compassion—inform her commitment to fostering equitable, inclusive environments.

A dedicated advocate for social justice, Kinya has worked in refugee camps across Africa with the United Nations and other organizations. For the past decade, she has collaborated with local governments in Canada to build anti-racist, welcoming communities. In addition, she is passionate about mentorship, particularly in empowering and nurturing young women through education and meaningful conversations.

Kinya is the founder of Shades of Humanity Consulting Inc. A Canada-wide consulting firm that focuses on creating spaces for impactful discussions on equity, diversity, and inclusion. She has delivered numerous keynotes, workshops, and learning sessions, helping organizations achieve their inclusion goals. Based in Toronto, with headquarters in Alberta and Ontario, Kinya remains dedicated to mentoring the next generation of leaders.
