Baking - A Generational Activity To Build Cherished Memories

Baking is such a cherished moment whether you are doing it alone or alongside a dear one. Baking with my mother is a moment that allows me to build memories with her. I learned baking tricks and tips from her, and she guides me through life. There is one of the cherished recipes that I learned from my mom called “Hello Dollies”. We would gather all the ingredients and work together. Throughout the baking process, we would have discussions on life or laughs talking about things we have done throughout our lives together, building even more memories. I will always hold onto them. When I'm making the “Hello Dollies” by myself, I always think of my mother. Someday I wish to carry that on to my progeny, which will make it a generational tradition.

Here is the "Hello Dollies" recipe I wish to share with you. I hope you enjoy it and I encourage you to try it.

· ½ cup butter or margarine, melted

· 1 ½ cups graham cracker crumbs

· 1 (14 ounces) can EAGLE BRAND® Sweetened Condensed Milk

· 2 cups semisweet chocolate morsels

· 1 ⅓ cups flaked coconut

· 1 cup chopped nuts

Step 1

Heat oven to 350 degrees F (325 degrees for glass dish). Coat 13x9-inch baking pan with no-stick cooking spray.

Step 2

Combine graham cracker crumbs and butter. Press into the bottom of the prepared pan. Pour sweetened condensed milk evenly over crumb mixture, then layer evenly with chocolate chips, coconut, and nuts. Press down firmly with a fork.

Step 3

Bake 25 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool. Cut into bars or diamonds. Store covered at room temperature.
